Proteus to Launch Youth Leadership and Financial Empowerment Programs

Proteus, Inc. is proud to be introducing new programs to increase our impact and further our mission of providing essential services to farmworkers and their families.

Farmworker Youth Leadership and Development (FYLD)

Nearly 20% of all U.S. farmworkers are under the age of 25, according to the USDA. Giving farmworker youth the opportunity to gain skills in managing groups, health and safety, public speaking, and financial literacy helps to build character and leadership skills. Our farmworker communities are always in need of trusted leaders capable of advocating for the protection of their communities’ health and safety. Proteus is elated to be a part of empowering the new generation!

Financial Empowerment

Since our inception, Proteus has worked to provide farmworkers with the tools to attain self-sufficiency. Participants in the new Financial Empowerment program can master competencies such as budgeting, understanding available financial services, and debt management. These skills are essential for improving quality of life and reaching true financial security and freedom, especially in farmworker families where generational wealth hasn’t been attained. We are thrilled to offer this crucial program to our clients knowing they will use these tools to build a legacy of financial independence.

Meet the Project Coordinator

Proteus, Inc. is elated to welcome Anahís Douglas as the Project Coordinator for the Financial Empowerment and FYLD Programs!

I am a passionate individual with a zest for life and a curious spirit. One of my greatest passions is travel, which has taken me to more than 30 countries around the world. Exploring different cultures, cuisines, and landscapes has not only broadened my horizons but also instilled in me a deep appreciation for the diversity of our planet and cultures. When I’m not globetrotting, you can find me in one of the following personal sanctuaries: my kitchen, books, films, live music events, and standup comedy. That said, paramount to me is spending time with my family. Lastly, I must mention my profound love for animals, especially dogs. Their unconditional love and loyalty have taught me valuable lessons about grace, compassion, and companionship.

My life has taken me down winding, exciting paths and I am elated that it has brought me here to Proteus today. I bring a diversity of life experiences and a passion for exploration, creativity, and connection to people, animals, and the earth. I am delighted to bring these qualities to my work, collaborate with others, and contribute to the success of our shared goals. Thank you all for welcoming me!
