Favorite Proteus Memory: Too many to count, but working with partners to provide a health and wellness event on-site at one of the migrant camps is a cherished memory.
Favorite Produce Item: There are many produce items that are favorites, but one of them is asparagus. It was always a joy searching for asparagus with family in the countryside ditches. My mom would treat us by making asparagus with cheese or creamed asparagus on toast for all of us kids.

Favorite Proteus Memory: My favorite Proteus memory is the 2019 I’m Thankful for Farmworkers Dinner: 40th Anniversary Celebration event which was held in Des Moines, IA. The event was a great success; farmworkers, partners, and team members were honored and we exceeded our fundraising goals. In addition to the great turnout, we had live music, a live auction, and the entire team was present. I believe this dinner concluded our All-Staff Week that year and it was the last time the entire team met in person prior to the pandemic.
Favorite Produce Item: Green plantain. Very versatile and underrated produce item. It can be fried, boiled, roasted, mashed, etc., you name it. I grew up eating it since my grandfather used to farm the produce in Ecuador.
